Computerworld story here. Andy blogs about RC2 here.
I’ve been a satisfied Firefox user since Andy delivered his impressive oration two years ago on “10 Reasons to Use Firefox.” Thunderbird is my email client of choice for my home ISP email account. It’s interesting and satisfying to see how Mozilla has kept on plugging away, patiently leading us into this open-source, collaborative world. The Mozilla wiki gives us all, even non-coders like me, a chance to give back. I’m grateful.
I really am interested in Firefox 2, but have had to temper my enthusiasm. I have two Firefox extensions I use religiously and have to wait until they are ready for FF2 so I can get the entire package.
Much to my amazement, I realized my Mother has switched to Thunderbird. I don’t recall setting up her switch from Outlook Express to T-bird, so I assume my brother-in-law loaded it. But, I am very happy Mozilla products are spreading to individuals well outside of the tech world and eroding Microsoft’s grip on the WWW.
